International Photography Awards / by Harriet Dedman

Really excited to have secured third place in the International Photography Awards 2015 - social cause category, for my Occupy Hong Kong series - "In the shadows of democracy," along with three honourable mentions for shots from India earlier this year - in the travel, traditions and social cause categories respectively.

The Hong Kong protests started this time last year, with over 800,000 members of Hong Kong's community taking to the streets to protect its students, and laying siege to the the City for 65 days.

I will never forget those early days of the protest, where the self-belief of youth collided with the monolithic might of China.
